Not to "throw rocks at the temple", but some folks who talk about the diminishing returns of a longer barrel to get more velocity, will themselves sweat blood trying to cram a few more tenths of a grain into an already compressed load case to gain a few more fps. I don't kick down doors, with my Grendel in hand, for a living, so I tend more in the direction of rifle length barrels on rifles. I hunt some god awful thickets for deer and most of my sporting rifles have 20-24" barrels on them. NBD navigating the thickets with them. Whenever I can get a longer barrel for the same price as a shorter one, I'll take the longer in a heartbeat. Some times, I'll even pay more for that privilege. Just my opinion though...
