Grendel stopping power....

Back a few years, I lived in the country and was walking out the door around daybreak to go to work when I was confronted by one of those drug dogs. Piece of rope tied to a chain around his neck, scrawny and growling at me. I backed up into the house and called the sheriff's office. They gave me the "all clear" to protect my home. I did not have a Grendel then, but a Ruger P85 with 125 grain hollow point works well, too.

It's just sad that people have taken this breed of dog and done so many things to it that it's reputation is ruined. I have no opinion on the them one way or another, but they are no different from other dogs that have at one point or another gotten a bad rap, whether earned or not. Rottweilers and Doberman Pinschers come to mind.

Very true. Our city gut flinched after a "rehabbed" drug dog almost killed a 5 year old little boy. The dog should never have been allowed into regular society. The city immediately outlawed all "vicious" dogs, including Pits, Rotts, Dogo Argentinos, etc. Then a very calm police dog, this time a German Shepard, attacked another kid. Fortunately there were close adults and the injuries were fairly superficial, but it opened the eyes of the city council. Then there were attacks by a cocker spaniel which sent a kid to the ER, and then a Golden Retriever and then Lab, all sending people to the ER. The city council decided that breed specific legislation didn't work and repealed the breed specific laws. We had tried to convince them that they had a good vicious dog ordinance before, that fit state guidelines, but they ignored the dozens of people that testified against the ordinance. The only person that testified for it was a sweet little old lady who admitted that dogs just scared her.

Now its back the way it was, and everyone is much more relaxed, at least some realizing that dogs do what dogs are going to do, and that breed has nothing to do with it.
