OK, OK, I'm rambling but now that I've have a Pit Bull and know what a great pet they can be I feel the need to defend them. Pit Bulls are the Olympic athletes of the dog world and they need proper care and training. They are a lot like a firearm in the hands of an idiot it can be dangerous. Unfortunately, there are a lot of idiots out there.
10-4, absolutely the best dog we've ever had, bar none! Wonderful with kids, and incredibly protective of them. my grandkids and their friends crawl and maul her, and she just ignores it or gets up and moves away. She is not impressed with other dogs, as a rule, so we have to pay attention when other dogs or cats are around. She does accustom herself to family pets if we allow her time to realize that they are part of the pack. (Except for my dads labradoodle, who is twice her size. She just will not leave him be, so she's persona non-grata at my parents! However, she absolutely adores my dad, so it may be a jealousy thing) She's a little pit, right around 42-44 pounds, but as Whelenon noted, they are incredible athletes, and incredibly tenacious, loyal, and loving. There are no better dogs, but they require special recognition, because that incredible loyalty and tenacity can be channeled incorrectly.
