Sad story. We have a Pit Bull and she is 50lbs of love and affection. Went to the dog pound looking for another hunting dog pup after we had to put down our 12 year old Golden Retriever, only pups they had were Pit Bulls. We didn't want one because of there bad rep but the people at the pound change our mind. With proper training and socialization they make great family pets and that's true. Chili Dawg is 8 now, smart, loyal and fearless. Surprisingly, she has better hunting instincts than our Golden. This last spring I watched her tree a 350lb bear that came into the cabin and two weeks later she chased another bear off. We have a bear problem in WI.
OK, OK, I'm rambling but now that I've have a Pit Bull and know what a great pet they can be I feel the need to defend them. Pit Bulls are the Olympic athletes of the dog world and they need proper care and training. They are a lot like a firearm in the hands of an idiot it can be dangerous. Unfortunately, there are a lot of idiots out there.
