I recently picked up an AR Stoner 10-rd Grendel mag for deer hunting and I must say, the workmanship and functionality is very good. It allows up to 2.30 COL loads if you chose. Just a FWIW.
One of the days, I hunted a long stretch (100 yd each way) logging trail where the deer had been coming up up from a cedar swamp, but did not get a chance to bloody the Grendel. We had poor conditions 4 out of 5 days with gale force winds keeping the deer hunkered down. Oh well...
The other four days, were in thick cover and for that I used my 450 Bushmaster upper. Also no shots. A disappointing year. I could have shot a pair of yearlings who kept coming around opening morning, but wanted something bigger than a couple of 70 pounders. Now, looking back, they would have been preferential to coming home empty handed I guess. Looks like a year with no deer chili for ole Hoot.
