Welcome aboard!

I just ordered the .243 version with the same purpose.

I haven't confirmed, but am hoping the mags for the 7.62X39 Model 10 FCM Scout http://www.savagearms.com/firearms/model/10FCM+SCOUT will work in both your rifle and mine!

After that, the next hope is that any remaining tweaking is straightforward.

There is a forum devoted to the Savage: http://savageshooters.com/SavageForum/ and have gotten some insights from it, but have yet to look at the magazine question.
