Geez, no CVC? The Guard was really poorly equipped before 9/11. Is that an M-48 A5?

That photo was taken long before 9/11. It was shortly after the Vietnam War. Mid-1975, actually, and the tank is an old, 90mm gun M48A1. We got the 105mm gun M48A5 the following year.

A bit of trivia for those who aren't familiar with the subject: the M48A1 had a gasoline engine, which produced a very visible exhaust flame at night! :eek:

The exhaust ports were located on top of the back deck, just below the rear of the turret overhang.
