Grendel build

I don't have the area's near here to go those distances, but I am also thinking of getting rid of my LR-308 and just going Grendel. 400 is about max for me.

I did and kinda glad I did.

A little 16" Grendel AR15 made my plans for a 16" .308 pointless, after I saw what it will do on steel at distance, from such a friendly, lightweight gun.

I've had 5 different AR10s, 2 of the .260 Remington's, and I just don't shoot the .260 much anymore either. It certainly has more performance, adding 150yds of effective range, but comes with so many penalties that I just don't like dealing with, weight being the biggest, recoil the next, no factory ammo gas gun support, harsh on brass if you push to full capability, damages components of the rifle like the firing pin retaining pin (have bent at least 3), and craters primers since the firing pin hole is large and pressures are high.

It sounds wonderful when you hit steel at 1000yds, because it is way louder than a .308 though. I'm able to hit the same 1000yd target with 16" and 18" Grendels with half the recoil, from little carbines that weigh almost half of what my .260 Rem weighs, so I don't have a lot of incentive to load for the .260 Rem anymore.
