Does the 6.5 grendel have the potential to replace the 5.56 for the military?

I was serious about LRRP52's notion about a Grendel replacing 7.62 NATO. Would surely reduce the burden on the Infantry who has to hump 7.62. Not sure about the other branches.

Gene, I did not doubt that you were serious about Paul's 6.5 Grendel LMG proposal. It seems like a good idea to me, too.

I don't know if it would prompt development of a new, lighter LMG, but at the very least it would reduce linked ammo weight.
