I'm a supporter of conealed carry 2nd Amendment but being a retired LEO I have some extra places I can legally carry compared to Il CCL holder. I had a friend notice a no concealed carry sign at a local Walmart which rather bothered him since he frquently purchased a good amount of items there. I looked at the sign and the sign stated the prohibition was for Walmart employees who were working and not a licensed CC holder.
I don't know if the management did this intentionally to keep patrons from packing concealed but when confronted the store management said they would only post the signs in employee restricted areas. I thought it was dumb to advertize no employees would be armed. This was the only Walmart I've ever seen with the placard indicating no concealed weapons.
It just pays to be observant including signage. Fortunately there has been no bad situations involving concealed carry licensees in Illinois since the Courts forced Illinois to start issuing CCL's. There have been several times CCL holders have legally used their weapons and have not been charged. To my knowledge there hasn't been anyone arrested for committing a crime other than traffic offense while being armed with a CCL.
