Many companies have a "no weapons at work" policy. It's a liability for them if they allow it. My employer has one but I carry my XDS 45 every day. There have been times I have had to leave it home or locked in the truck due to where I have had to work (prisons, schools,etc). Other than those two places, I usually have it with me at all times when I'm out of my house.
The "no firearms" signs on businesses here in NY haven't really been a problem. I don't think I've ever seen one.
