I submit, however, that expecting the government "to do it all" as implied here is a sure path to disaster with respect to individual safety and freedom.

I implied no such thing, Joe. I said that what the individual can do in defeating terrorists is quite limited, and there are tasks which only the government can (and should) handle.

I most definitely did not say, or even imply, that the individual should depend upon government to provide for personal safety.
