I have read that the M855A1 accomplishes it's velocities with pressures almost to the proof load pressure limit. Barrel life is half of the other 5.56 rounds and new magazine follower's are needed to prevent damage to the receiver. This may be false but the M855A1 round has had it's detractors. The gel test is very impressive but I would like to see this ballistic gel test out to 4-500 yards. I do know M855A1 round is a very expensive bullet to make.
