Carbine is fine, it's really up to you. If you like shooting from a carbine stock, I say go for it. I have a MFT so I'm sold on that, lol. T2 buffer and for a can you'll need a adjustable Gas block so just get one or adjustable Gas key for bolt carrier. The gas key is like 40.00 or you can buy carrier with it installed already for around 100.00.
I know the Grendel can be over gases sometimes but I'm not sure about the 22" pipes. Someone will be along soon to help and Welcome to the board. Can't wait to see your build since I'm going back and forth on a 18" or 22" for my next build.
FYI, 502 yard Montana White Tail shot with a 20" Grendel by a forum member last fall so don't sell your range short.
