I'm actually looking to mount one of the Dr. Optic type Micros in the M16A2 upper receivers, since many of my KISS carbines will only use a red dot. That will help limit a lot of snag issues and keep things...well, simple, plus I got a few of the A2 uppers for $48 from LAR.
I really like the Colt Model 723 (Forward Assist, brass deflector, A1 rear sight, 14.5" barrel w/grenade step) and 727 carbines, even with a Delta cheek piece and Aimpoint on the upper. They just feel more solid than a flat-top upper with elevated clamp mounts. My real desire is to have a Micro Red dot fit inside the protective ears of the A2 rear sight assembly, without being visible from the side. The Leupold Delta Point is the smallest of the Micros so far, but still hangs out. We'll get there soon enough.
3.25 MOA is fine for a CQB carbine, and fine for 300m shots as well, since the M16A2 front sight post is 11 MOA. A 3.25 MOA aiming device will allow me to hit man-size targets at 300-500m much better than I can with an M16A2, and I rarely missed the 300m E-type silhouettes with an M16A1, M16A2, or M4 even.
