I once thought bolt actions were far superior in accuracy. While that's still probably true in a $ to $ comparison, with the improvements to machining ability and the AR platofrm I don't think the divide is notable for most shooters.
I'm not trying to knock a bolt action. I almost jumped on the train not long ago. A big draw, for me anyways, was that I could push pressures further (No need for the compound throat at higher pressures. I believe pac nor has a Grendel Match chamber that would be great for a bolt gun.). I could also load longer taking advantage of case capacity still available with the heavier projectiles. The longer bullets loaded to AR15 mag lengths take up a substantial amount of case capacity.
