This is Jason Falla running through an extended Individual movement and live-fire exercise at the King Abdullah II Special Operations Training Center (KASOTC) north of Amman, Jordan. It demonstrates several of the 5.56x45 NATO carbine's strengths in a MOUT environment.
Notice how infrequent mag changes are necessary, how minimal muzzle climb and recoil is, and imagine the muzzle blast in the room being quite deafening without ear pro muffs. I have shot in several MOUT sites like this in the US and abroad, and can tell you that shooting within buildings like this is very offensive to your senses.
I will also say that while 5.56 NATO is great in these areas, you also need weapons that can blast through walls. We relied on 7.62 belt-fed machine guns for this, with 40mm grenade launchers through windows, and the occasional AT4 to soften areas of particular resistance.
