Evidently, some legislators truly believe that LEO's are the "chosen ones".

Probably not. Law enforcement has been changed by society since I retired. They are more concerned with protecting the offender than dealing with the problem. When people call 911 to complain about their food, it reflects on the total lack of personal responsibility. In our search for utopia, we have fundamentally changed the way we interact as a society. In my day, juveniles were severely dealt with by family Kangaroo Courts. A concern about domestic abuse eliminated a father disciplining a child without concern about some progressive from social services. Today, neighborhoods with a motto of "No Snitches" prevent law enforcement from arresting murderers who shoot children in their parents arms. The changes in our institutionalized education system which teaches non violence and diversity totally destroys the personal experience and confidence needed to wear a badge. In our search for diversity in hiring, I suspect that many within the policing systems have no business being there. We don't need more laws. Campaign for a return to common sense and courage. My first Sheriff taught me to enforce the spirit of the law, not the letter of the law. He also told me that it was not against the law to call a man what he really was.

All I had to read was "ALBANY, N.Y." and that was enough. I'm thankful that I no longer have to travel to that state for business and have no plans to visit it again in the future.

When judging LEO's consider the environment. We have not lived in a Representative Republic for some time. It would appear that we live in a De Facto Oligarchy which is fast turning into an Aristocracy. If not that then a Dictatorship. Whether the Citizenry allow this to continue will be of much interest to us all.
