"U.S. Rep. Diana DeGette put her foot in her mouth Tuesday by telling an older man at a gun forum that, armed or not, he’d “probably be dead anyway” if armed intruders broke into his home. She must have had quite an appetite for feet, because she followed up by questioning the need to ban high-capacity magazines, since they’ll be used up over time anyway once they’re fired.

Wait, she didn’t mean magazines, obviously. According to her spokeswoman, Juliet Johnson, firearms authority Rep. DeGette meant to say that clips would be used up, not magazines. The Denver Post reports:


“The congresswoman has been working on a high-capacity assault magazine ban for years and has been deeply involved in the issue; she simply misspoke in referring to ‘magazines’ when she should have referred to ‘clips,’ which cannot be reused because they don’t have a feeding mechanism,” Johnson said."

Actually, in the video she says 'magazineclips'. I'm not sure her spokeswoman actually did her a service by trying to offer clarification that is just as bad as the original statement.

Crap like this frys me, she (and many like her) are totally clueless as to #1, WHAT they are trying to ban #2 How that banning what they are is actually supposed to DO ANYTHING to reduce gun violence! Because its NOT going to. In reality its bait and switch.

Useful idiots at work. There should be an entrance exam before you're even allowed to run for office. If you fail, you get flogged and sent back to wherever you came from. These people eventually end up on Committees making crucial decisions at the State and Federal levels, while most of them shouldn't be allowed near public office or any position resembling leadership capacity.
