Been looking on and off for a while. There were quite a few for sale for good prices a few months ago. Then December hits, and all hell breaks loose. I thought I was good two times because I thought I had lined up a purchase, but one sold it out from under me, and one won't contact me back. Passed up the $800 24" overwatch at jgsales because I thought I had the 20" I really wanted found. Now everyone wants $2K for an upper and a magazine. My choices are hop in line at AA, ARP,JT, SD etc., pay the price, or wait until this stuff settles down and I know if I can even have one anymore. What do I do?
If it were me. Because of the threat of the ban. I would concentrate on finding a good lower receiver, magazines, and a telescoping buttstock. Especially the lower receiver. If they ban the assault rifle sales i believe all your upper parts will be available. But since the lower is the registered part with serial number because it houses the trigger group that will be what will probably be illegal for sale anymore. Good luck. There are still parts coming, but you have to put stuff on BO if possible, especially a lower. I have everything coming to build a rifle (shipping is slow, but the parts were in stock,) but I'm waiting on the receiver that I back ordered about a month ago. Most places will not even take back orders because they have probably oversold incoming product. Make sure you have your dealers FFL on file with the shop you order from, most won't process an order for a lower without, and you could loose your place in line when the lower comes in.

Things arent looking favorably for a new Grendel but dont give up. Like they said in the other posts work on the lowere stripped or complete because those are what will be regulated (we think).
Hey Dust, I just got up and running with my Grendel and I don't think this is a bad time at all to have done it. I love the gun - I have it set up proper and I just formed my first once fired Hornady brass earlier in the week. I still haven't gotten the scope mount set up how I want it (need risers - 56mm obj.), but I'm working on it and so far I've put about 120 rounds through it. I have wanted this rifle a very long time and I am very satisfied with it so far. As yet I have still been unable to test shot precision with it, but I suspect this will be a really good shooter. 
It is one of the best, if not the best AR caliber. Period! It can out shoot the 5.56 all day short or long distance and it is as good or better (in my opinion) then the .308. There will be those that will argue with me but ive owned all 3 and the Grendel will whooop all of em!

Stop the paranoia. This will cycle thru. Relax. Guys-don/t go over the edge on these issues. The ban most likely will not happen-maybe a mag. issue-ammo amount issue==let it go for today, at least. Chill. Worry about something else for the wknd.
Lets hope youre right, I dont remember it being quite this intense in 94. Its not so much them going after the guns, i mean when has that ever stopped? What gets me is all the other issues. The Economy is in territory that ive never seen in my life nor my fathers and that only leaves the great depression and we're way past that threshold (at least in a national debt of $16 trillion +). So yes im a little concerned but not paranoid or crazy by any means. Im a realist," it is what it is" I simply call it the way I see it and I must admit Greece and Spain worry me a little but Most of us are hoping you're correct of course.

Relax for the wknd, DH-I feel that this will wind down soon enuff. Too many rifle-handgun owners for the gov. to deal with. Strength in numbers-volume.We-collectivelly have an-upper hand-in conversations w/ the gov. Hey, we are the Quiet militia-behind the scenes-ready to help -if asked, am I correct? We are the law abiding citizens-like the Adult males in-Switz, or Austria==they have an assualt rifle -in house in go mode. I am done worrying any more. I won't give up anything-Anything!-so I focus on the future=keep after the bastiges-so called ,, elected official-and other lazy mo-fo's that suck all the money out, that reside in gov. positions. Remember the Kennedy old fart-Ted??? Slept thru every meeting he sat in-wasted 40 years of taxpayers monies,, = did nothing to advance America, killed a gal in the 60's-car accident thingy. Less gov., and their intrusion into our daily lives is a goal for us all=leave us alone. I will keep my rifle, and will hunt w/ it=no-one shall tell, or recommend to me about it. I have a many suggestions to the gov., on how to deal w/ the mentally challenged in the USA.=Easy fixes.

We, as a grendel gang-need not give , or fear from anything! We all hold , basically the same ideals, values-beliefs in gun ownership, etc. We are strong-voice your opinion, keep your chosen weapon close, handy. We as an intellegent populace, have no mindset of creating evil-we only wish to stop it;s advance-==thru self defense measures, as is the right -given to us from our forefathers -of --the 2nd Amendment. We have the right to keep and bear arms. Lately-last 50 yrs, or so, the arms have changed-so? They are called modern sporting arms now. History always repeats itself. Here we go again! Full Auto's have been around since John Browning invented most of them! Most were used in military battles. Those were full auto designs. The newer designs civilaian offshoots=semi auto, have been around just as long-no major problems in history-then the bush gang -cuts funding for the mentally ill=since then==shoot athons every year. Study the past, call your shmo officials-tell them to fix this, or resign!-Or we will prosecute them, for lack of leadership! It's Go time! I'm looking at the 6.5 Grendel in a 18-20" upper, as we are comfortable with the lowers, but if Mossberg ever releases the MVP in .243, .260, or 6.5CM, or 6.5G for that matter, I wouldn't have a problem with a bolt either.

Read that AA has the 16" Grendel in stock. I have located a DSG 18" with two 26rd mags and some ammo for $1100. Considering one, or just sitting on it until it blows over. In Texas, so it will blow over

I sent a one and a half page letter and another 4 page list of our founder's thoughts on the importance of gun ownership last week. Sent each of them by FedEx air to have them get more attention. If they heard from millions of us, it would get their attention!
