Mongoose, I agree. I enjoy that, too, and also breaking the stereotype of gun owners as meat-head Bubba types. But you're right about most not being convinced by logic. I've gone round and round and round delving into constitutional theory and the Federalist papers and common sense and it just doesn't work with the vast majority.
Better to maintain your good humor and relaxed cheerful attitude and fire-off a few one-liners designed to make them feel you are the man and they are the whining child.

My two favorites:
In the 20th century governments killed 1/3 BILLION Of their own citizens, NOT including war. Mass murder by government dwarfs all private violence. We'll keep our firepower, thank you very much.
FIRST: Let's disarm Israel to stop the mass murders there.
THEN: Let's see how that works out.

it is my contention that when you live in a FREE COUNTRY, you dont have to justify your "needs" to anybody....(except maybe your wife)!!!!
if people could only have what they " needed" in this country we would all live in a one room shack, ride bicycles to work and get a bowl of rice a day.... not my idea of freedom, thats for sure.

What is sad is this is the progressives idea of utopia, of course the leaders will need nicer things like unlimited flights to Hawaii for vacations and full time secret service for protection. Well said Grendel Gene
Funny... once the Utopians (UN,., etc.) decide that the leaders of countries such as Syria are mercilessly slaughtering their citizens (that a rare one, eh?), they cry about how they have no weapons to defend themselves.
The 2nd Ammendment is not about target shooting and hunting, it was conceived to provide for the populace to bing their government into submission, shoud it (the gubmint) go rouge against the laws of the republic.
'Course I'm preachin' to the choir here...
