I hope your not asking us vets that. That's a question for those useless hobos(career politicians whatever you want to refer to them by) we've sent to washington.
If it would of been up to us, we would of went in killed the enemy, destroyed their ability to wage war, and went home.

Didn't always use to be that way...but in modern times stems from WW1 where Germany was obliterated and then suffered miserably in the post war years. It gave rise to a nationalist movement that leveraged the economic misery into national pride, then a military take-over leading to WW2. Post WW2, we subsidized the rebuilding of Europe and Japan, and stabilized western Europe against the Soviets. Not that there wasn't civil unrest for a good while afterwards, but it was controllable. You want stability in Iraq, then they need economic stability as an inoculation against radicalism. High unemployment leads to dissatisfaction and civil unrest, and radical elements become empowered. Iraq has much better chance of success compared to Afghanistan because they have a history of an educated class. They take pride in being the cradle of civilization. If you're really into history, you can go back to Alexander the Great and see how he treated the conquered lands...he embraced and co-opted them and built them up in order to stabilize them to eliminate future threats. Note: I am NOT a career politician, nor have I ever been a politician. I was a warfighter for 21+ years (3 as a war planner)

I'm glad kegs pointed this post out I missed it. I completely share your sentiments on this and join with kegs in giving it a +1. However, after looking at feinstein's proposed plan it appears it will add to existing gun registration laws in a scale just small enough to to prevent an all out revolt, while we all know this increase in the government's ability to track our weapons will have dire results, intended to pave the road for future confiscation. When this happens, the patriots who will resist with their lives will be sweep under the rug while being labeled as nut jobs, radicals, and murderers by our main stream media. The libtards are relying upon that. They intend to divide and conqour. It should be noted feinstien meet with the ATF prior to the election to discuss the possibility of implementing it at this time and the ATF's ability to enforce a ban that would make the ownership of our AR's illegal (i.e. no grandfather clause). Her final intent is a matter of public record for anybody that believes it's crazy that this registration will lead to confiscation.

lets just start a full on civil war between gun owners and those who wish to take away our guns (essentially non gun owners) and see who wins and how fast these idiots jump ship.

I'm not sure why you believe it is a small scale change. It will virtually eliminate any semi-auto weapon, and what few remain will come under NFA taxation and registration without the possibility of transferring. This will eliminate semi-auto's in a generation, including pistols. Feinstein's proposal is a clear RED line. This need's to be rendered DOA with no compromising for a "lite" version.

It doesnt matter how pragmatic we are there is no way that this isnt a flagrant attempt to ban small arms as Obama agreed to with the UN hours after his re-election. Its obvious that the Newton CT tragedy is just an end to justify the means. In addition to that im not so sure anymore what our Govt is willing to do or what theyre involved in either, just look at Fast and Furious.

What I meant was the registration portion of the bill is a relatively small addition to current registration laws. I agree this is a CLEAR red line to the informed gun owner. I don't believe the many blissfully ignorant gun owners across America will see the the bill for the true threat for which it is, and that I believe this is the biggest danger that lies ahead for us.

Since the good rep from California has her mind set on abrogating the Second Amendment which in turn abrogates the Fifth Amendment, perhaps we should call for the repeal of the Nineteenth Amendment.

This statement may be correct in Alabama, but here in Nevada it couldn't be more wrong. We have no registration laws (other than class 3) here and private ftf sale is perfectly legal. With that said, there is no paper trail to my firearms. With that being said, her communist nuetering, registration and taxation idea represents a drastic change. davidj Wrote:Since the good rep from California has her mind set on abrogating the Second Amendment which in turn abrogates the Fifth Amendment, perhaps we should call for the repeal of the Nineteenth Amendment. Alright let's not attack women in general the libtards would love that. I do believe I know what you mean. Voting was never meant as a RIGHT. Especially not this "basic" or "fundamental" right people refer to it as. Voting is a RESPONSIBILITY. It's the greatest responsibility a US citizen has bestowed upon them. That's exactly how the founding fathers saw it. Originally one vote was granted to every land owner. Essentially giving a vote to virtually every family, in turn was a vote to the Americans who had a stake in the future of this nation. It DID NOT prevent woman or any race from voting contrary to popular belief, that came into effect much later. To cast a vote without making an INFORMED decision and without regard to the future of this nation and the future generations that will inherent it is as immoral as selling secrets to our enemies. This I believe is the root of our nations problems. If we are to ever fix this country we need to fix this problem. Davidj if this is what you meant I stand behind you fully. I propose to fix this problem the constitution be amended to change voting from a right to an EARNED privilege. The path to earning the privilege must be black and white as politicians will try to manipulate it for their benefit. My humble suggestion would be that to vote on the Americans we send to Washington you need to have done military service obtaining an honorable discharge or are currently serving or have paid federal taxes each of the previous 4 years. This would not insure all voters are informed, but it would insure all voters have an investment in the future of this country.

You don't have to pass a background check filling out that form (I can't remember what it's called) before purchasing a pistol or AR from an FFL dealer in nevada???

These 3 will be the best avenues for gun owners to fight this legislation. I have been getting inundated with emails from the NAGR ... wanting me to donate heavily to their cause and aid in the fight... What does anyone know about them? I haven't contributed to their organization mostly because that's all they talk about is donations... donations... donations and more or less running down the NRA (which I am a life member of.... have been active in since I was a kid...)

Not with a CCW you don't, but that's not what I was referring too. If I want to buy a gun from any private party (non FFl) I am required by law to show proof of residency and that is all. I own a few firearms that I bought from Joe Nobody cash sale and it's perfectly legal. Sooo "what assualt rifle?? I've never even owned one!"
