I already have the 2.5-10 x 24 Nightforce (check the earlier pics on page 1. I didn't sell it nor do I plan to!). I am just saving for the Zero stop turret conversion ($350 Sheesh!). The other optic that I plan to add is the 2 MOA Aimpoint Micro T-1 for the offest rail.

Thanks for the "thumbs up" Thor. Sorry it's been a while and I don't always have time to check the forum. I think you will really like the Grendel in this configuration. I know I do and it's my "number one." I have been using it in three gun competition. Next shoot is in Sept. Can't wait. And to keep the pics rolling I have this one minor shot for now. Good news is that the scope is at Nightforce to get the ZeroStops!

I have to say that I've never noticed one with Type D stock. Do you have any pics of those? I would think that the Type D's had been fully replaced by Type E's, and then A2 stocks by the time they started putting the SPR program together. In my first unit, we had M16A1's, but they all had A2 furniture on them. That was in 1994-1995, and in late 1995, we got A2's, which I didn't like.

Sorry for going off subject but I have a question about how the scope is mounted. Is there any issues of stability with the front scope mount on the handguard?

Honestly I don't know, however, I am willing to bet that mathematically it does. What I mean by that is, the scope probably does have some stability issues mounted to the handguard and reciever but, they may be negligable enough not to adversly affect the scope's function. This may be a reason why cantilever mounts are popular because it allows for 1. greater eye relief and 2. mounting the optic to a "solid" piece. The picture there of the Mk12 Mod 0 uses a Swan sleve which ultimately acts as kind of cantilever mount. It is secured to the upper reciever with four crossbolts and rides along the top of the PRI FF handguard. Monolithic uppers offered from LMT and others mfg's is another solution to this kind of question as well as maintaining a repeatable zero for additional removable accessories such as a AN/PAQ-4 . The inherent modularity of the AR-15 system causes some of these concerns. Hope that helps a little.

Those are M4A1 SOPMOD Block II carbines with suppressors. That's the configuration I've been talking about for a while as the best go-to individual service weapon for combat arms. They still have 14.5" barrels. Notice the Carl Gustav in play....

Stanc, thanks for the props and post. LRRPF52 is right, those are Block II's. Interestingly enough the Mk12's were the product of the SOPMOD program/funding, so it's no surprise to see many of the components from that system fitted to Block II's as in the case of the operator with the helmet-cam. My version of the Mk12 is a "mis-mash" of what the original first issue rifles were with a bit of the modern enhancements now fielded on rifles like the Block II's. That's a great video and thanks for posting it.

Just a quick update here and for the fact that I like to take photos. I got my Nightforce scope finally equipped with the ZeroStop turrets and chose to mount it into a LaRue SPR-S mount for the additional 10 MOA of down angle. Some other notable changes are the Grey Nodak Spud lower and the Tango Down stubby vertical grip. The TD stubby isn't there for CDI points, rather to aid in barrier shooting. Haven't had this to the range to zero the scope yet but, will post when I do. I plan on a 200 zero. The same as the irons.

Thanks guys! As I have mentioned in previous posts, I am still working on the Aimpoint T-1 and the can. Will update when I can. I know I haven't done any range photos for a while but, I will when I get the chance. It's been a bit difficult to get to the range lately.

biodsl, yes the NF glass is nice, thanks. I bought it used and it has the NP-1 reticule. I like that its "un-cluttered". Certainly not great for estimating range but it can be done. The 9" of length makes it really handy and not bulky and the range of magnification is perfect IMO. It makes for a more versitile optic.
