Satern 18" spartan barrel.

I currently have the 16" button rifled barrel on my rifle, it performs well but I would like to tighten up the groups a little bit without throwing to much weight on there. Does anyone have any experience with the Satern 18" spartan barrel listed on AA's website? http://www.alexanderarms.com/item/14/142...ndBolt.htm

Also open to suggestions on what people are getting good groups out of in an 18" barrel.

I'm in the same boat. My 16" is shooting MOA but I originally wanted an 18" barrel. Is it worth the change?

Hi: I thought I'd jump in and hopefully give some info that might help.

I have my 16" Satern Spartan upper listed for sale( along with my GDMR) in the for sale section with pictures so you can see what one looks like.

I weighed the upper so I would know how much it weighs because it is the lightest upper I ever felt. It weighs in at 2 lbs. 6.5 oz. as you see it in the picture.

My idea with the GDMR and extra upper combo was that I could use the GDMR for benchrest target shooting and I could switch to the lightweight upper for carrying while hunting.

I figured with the Satern barrel, the extra upper would be very accurate even though I haven't been able to shoot that particular upper yet. The GDMR shoots at sub moa as would be expected.

I had read that the difference in velocity between the 18" and 16" barrels would only be around 50 fps but maybe someone who has chrono'd both sizes could chime in to let you know how accurate that is.

As I stated in my ad, I'm only selling the GDMR and extra upper because I want to try to build my own rifle which I've never done and would like to do at least once in my life.
