Doe taken 11/23

Took this one 11/23 AM. Love my little CZ-527 6.5 Grendel, really efficient deer round. Doe was facing away from me so I shot her in the back of the neck. She was on a timber haul road roughly 80 yards away from me which is a bit longer than my usual shot where I hunt.

Thanks. She had more fat on her and inside her body cavity than any deer I’ve killed to date. I expect she’ll be excellent table fare.

I used the Nosler 129 gr. ABLR. I have a load with Match Rifle that gives 2600 fps out of the 24” barrel on the CZ. That is the fourth deer I’ve taken with that load and though I’m sure any bullet would have worked with the shot placement in this case I was very pleased with it on the two I took last year that were chest cavity shots. I have a number of rifles but the little CZ in 6.5 Grendel is first I reach for and the one I take hunting the most.

I used the same ABLR as well on a doe Saturday, the more critters I kill with it the more I like it. Mine are running 2550fps. It has worked well from 30 yards to over 300 yards and hit 8 inch or so rocks consistently at 600 yards.

Good shootin. I had a brother in law that would not shoot a deer anywhere but in the neck. Having been an expert marksman in the Army, and later a member of a swat team, he could do that at just about any range. Congrats on the kill.
