Looking for LPVO in 1-4 or 1-6 to Replace GRSC 1-4

I’ve had a GRSC 1-4 for a while now and it seems like it’s finally time to replace it. I really like the BDC on it so I’d like to go with something that incorporates a feature like that. The optic with probably run on my 556 final although it may swap onto an AR Grendel as well. Range wise I don’t see shooting more than 4-600 yards if I can even find a spot to here in east Kansas.
Primary features I’d like are glass and durability with a BDC. Id also like decent illumination at least. Lower weight would be nice but not the top of the list. I also am looking at Second Focal Plane since I find I leave the GRSC at 4x most of time. Budget id prefer to stay in the 500-700 range but if the benefits reward are compelling enough would go up to 1k.
The choices I’m leaning towards are with the BDC retical are the :
Steiner 1-4 P3TR
Trijicon Credo HX 1-6
Athlon Cronus BTR gen2 1-6

Any other thoughts or suggestions on these? The PA 1-6 Gold series didn’t seem to get great reviews for the glass or I would be interested in that route. Similarly the Vortex Viper PST II 1-6 sounds good but doesn’t have a BDC that id like.

The Delta Stryker 1-6x24 second focal plane scope and Vortex Viper PST 1-6x24 get very good reviews in that price range. The Primary Arms new 1-6x24 with SLx Nova reticle is a new release but supposedly with a day light bright center dot. The SLx 1-6 is currently out of stock and is a Chinese manufactured optic but is about the cheapest optic with a daylight visible illuminated reticle. Eurooptics sell a Vortex Viper 1-4 which is the only 1-4 I’d consider in todays available low power variable optics. The Steiner just seems to be over priced for it’s magnifications and features. Some of the other scopes today seem to be prism fixed magnification or the fixed power of the Trijicon ACOG.

The trend seems to be moving toward first focal plane optics. I didn’t know if you had looked at the scopes I listed.

I love the glass clarity, FOV, and reticle on the GRSC 1-4x24 scopes but I have broken at least 2 of them now. I especially enjoy shooting out to 800yds on steel with the 12” Grendel and that scope.

I replaced it with the 1-6x24 GRSC which is a Japanese LOW-made scope built like a tank. FOV isn’t the same though as the 1-4x24, which was very generous and clear.

There really isn’t an equivalent replacement, especially in that price point.

The Vortex Razor 1-10x Gen III, MOA version is about as close as it gets, but it costs $2400.



The main feature the GRSC reticle has that these others don’t is the 10” circles graduated for each drop distance, which is very intuitive.

You can place the 10” circles inside of or over 8” - 18” steel plates and have a very good reference of proportion that allows really fast rounds on target without having to take your eye out of the optic.

The 1-4 viper seems like a decent deal. I’ve heard the Gen 2 glass is a lot better (I picked up a 2-12 viper for a 6.5 Grendel). The reason I listed the Steiner is I can get it below normal pricing.
I ran across this at Riton https://ritonoptics.com/product/5-tactix...der-ranch/ . The reticle seems fairly simple and what I’m going for. I called and talked to them yesterday, the optic is made in Japan although I don’t believe it’s LOW. It’s on the heavier side similar to the PST2 1-6 but I like the BDC better.
