Hey guys,
Been out of this for quite a while.
I built a Grendel with a 12" Group buy barrel. Shoots...ok at best. I put it to the side to figure it out later. Almost 6 months later, decided to take it back out, but decided I now want an 18" or 20" barrel.
The barrels I am looking at right now are:
1. Alexander Arms 18" Lightweight profile, Lightweight profile, button-rifled, stainless steel, 1:7.5 twist
2. Odin Works 18" DMR, button-rifled, stainless steel, 1:8 twist
3. Odin Works 20" DMR, button-rifled, stainless steel, 1:8 twist
4. Precision Firearms 18" or 20" using a Criterion Blank, stainless steel, 1:8 twist (Very Long wait though)
Out of these two, which would be the better barrel to ensure accuracy? Not looking for insane accuracy. Will be happy with 0.5-1.0" max.
This will NOT be used for hunting. This is just range and fun.
I do hand load with Lapua brass, various powders and Sierra Match Kings.

I like Oden Works products including their barrels. Unless their quality has been affected by the pandemic, I'm with Oden and my pref for a paper-punching gun is 20".
Just my 2 cents.

The barrel from Precision. Everything else listed is rack grade.

I'm weighing the same decision myself. I have been offered a Shilen barrel but the Odin Works barrels are guaranteed to be sub moa. I also want a threaded barrel, not so much for the brake but more for the ability to mount a flash suppressor or a can if I want to. The big difference between the Odin 18 and the Odin 20 is that the 20 is rifle gas and the 18 is intermediate.

For informational purposes only. I may get blasted for making a rack grade suggestion but its ok. Make you own decisions. Mine shoots sub Moa with handloads after 200 rds. Complete upper for the price of a PF barrel.

I tried rack grade with the 12" and 18" group buy. The 12" seems to be better than the 18". Got rid of the 18" a while ago. I want the PF barrel, but I really do not want to wait for it. 12-14 week wait and from all the review, it seems like that will turn into 22-26 week wait, but worth it.
Odin seems like a better buy right now, but really don't want to go through the whole "its Ok" thing. Probably should just wait and keep shooting the 308 while I wait.

Nothing wrong with holding out for what you really want. Post an update when you get it in and let us know how it shoots

My Oden barrel was under MOA from the first shot and under half when I do my part. Great finish, no tool/chatter marks of any kind anywhere. Barrel/chamber as smooth and polished as any I've ever seen. This was bought months before the pandemic gripped everything so what's in stock now or what Odin is offering now hopefully is of the same quality and workmanship.

Update:
I purchased the Odin Works 20" DMR barrel. Will install hopefully this week when it arrives. Need to load up some ammo now and get out to the range.

A friend of mine bought one of these in an Odin Works build kit a few years back. It shoots very good, consistent 3/4" and under groups with our reloads.
He says it's a piece of junk because it will not cycle with
HIS reloads. LOL!!!!
Just for the record...it works great with everything I put through it......Factory ammo and reloads.

I have never had a Criterion barrel that was not a shooter. I have an 18" Criterion barrel on one of my AR platforms, with handloads I can get 1/2 to 5/8 groups ( 5 shot groups ). The only thing special I do with the handloads is, I pay attention to my shoulder bump ( .003 ) is what I found to be the happy spot for my chamber.

I just finished assembling an AR15 (Grendel) for a friend. We were waiting for his PF Criterion barrel to arrive (7 months). He went all in and also ordered their top-end BCG and muzzle break. The machine work on all of their parts is top notch. It is worth the wait.

I got an Odin .223 barrel about six weeks ago. Can't get it to do better than 1.5 MOA. It also seems to heat up faster, take longer to cool and starts getting thermal drift after five or six shots at a competition pace. I'm guessing the steel isn't up to snuff. Probably the last Odin barrel for me.

Contact Odin they guarantee their barrels to do sub moa. They'll make it right

I was doing the same thing this summer. Ordered an 18" Douglas 6.5 in June, Received it 1st week in September. Went with Compass Lake Engineering. While on order was discussing things with them and ended up sending in my parts, (upper, bolt and carrier, adjustable gas block), and it was all assembled by them. Shoots wonderful. Best shooter that I own. Will Definitely do more business with them. Everyone involved went out of their way to help and answer any questions.

McGowan makes the barrel blanks for Odin, they are definitely not rack grade barrels.
My Odin barrel in 6mm ARC will shoot the balls off a gnat at 100 yards.
