Upgrading a CZ Varmint MTR with pillar bedding and better trigger

My first CZ527 (15 years ago) I didn't realize it had a set trigger. I wasn't happy with the non-set trigger pull so I swapped it out for a Timney that I had set at 2lbs. The give away was when I went to pick up the rifle after a bedding job and swapping out trigger. My gunsmith, who seldom handles a CZ unless I brought it, commented that the factory trigger was extremely complicated... it was a set trigger. Its been sitting in a parts box ever since. I think you can go as light as 1.5lbs for a field rifle and not have an issue with it accidentally going off when it gets jard. Easy to test... set the trigger weight, cock the rifle (unloaded) and then bounces it off the floor a few times on its butt pad from a couple of feet up. If it doesn't drop the firing pin then you are safe.

Edit: When I ordered mine directly from Timney, they asked what weight I wanted it set at.

i think the set trigger is on the varmint...my pal has one on his carbine but the mtr has a single stage match trigger from the 556. as close as you are to cz in europe i would call them for help. it is really a fine trigger.

I recently purchased a 527 Varmint. It did not come with any kinda of special trigger that I'm aware of. I have adjusted it as much as I can and it is still a little heavy for me. My preference is 16 to 24 oz. I haven't shot it much but did barrel break in and some very quick ladder test after bedding the action and adding a brake. Seems to be shooting pretty good so far with only two accuracy groups shot. Funny thing is I am probably going to let this one go. I just purchased the a Fix in 6.5 Creed and because of the shortages I will need to cannibalize some of my Grendel components for use in the Creed.
