Is QuickLOAD worth getting for the 50 Beowulf?

I'd like to try some new smokeless powders, and some new bullets.

I hear QuickLOAD doesn't work well with large cases and when I emailed they basically agreed.

Curious about Alliant power pro 300-mp, Ramshot Enforcer, CFE BLK, or H322.

Quickload does work for a starting point. The key is putting all the right info in and adjusting the powders to match the actual results. I usually get pretty close.

What powders and bullets do you have in mind? There is a fair bit of data in places like Ammoguide.com and you combination may already be there. There is a subscription fee but it is very reasonable. You can see the bullets and powders for the cartridge as a guest and then decide on whether to subscribe.

Further, Quickload seems to have some challenges with straight-wall cases like the Beouwulf.

Also, using Quickload pressure data to set even starting loads is fraught with danger even though it generally does well in forecasting velocities.

It's a predictive model, and like any model it is a simplification of reality. Given it is conservative that covers any risk where clumsy predictions are concerned.

I use it all the time.

I wish they would update their medium to the 21st Century. They still send you the program and updates on CD/DVD disks.

For bullets? Any? The Speer TMJ 300gr, xtreme bullets plated 325gr, Hornady 300gr FTX, Barnes 400gr flat nose.

I have both QL and a 50 Beo.
If you're JUST wanting to use QL for the 'wulf. It's not worth it IMHO

Speaking of the .50 'wulf, does anyone know of a .50 Beowulf forum? Maybe we could have a section here, kind of like the bolt action and other sections.

I for one would like to see a discussion section for the Beowulf.
