I'm new to the 6.5G, but not to the AR15 platform. I've been wanting to do a build for a number of years, but held off as it's a pretty light cartridge for some of our game animals.
I haven't purchased a barrel and bolt yet, but am leaning heavily towards the Odin Works 20" rifle barrel/BCG, and gas block combo at this time.
I'm here to learn more about the 6.5G. Especially from those who hunt with it.

Welcome to the forum AK10mm! Life is full of compromise but the AR-15 offer a lot of good attributes. The 6.5 Grendel has been used effectively on caribou, mountain goats, white/black tail deer, black bear and wolves plus smaller critters. A 6.5 Grendel loaded with twenty five rounds of deep penetrating monolithic bullets like Barnes would still beat some handgun cartridges against large bears in an emergency.

It seems like you have exactly the same take on the 6.5 Grendel in Alaska as I do. It's definitely a legitimate hunting round up to a Caribou with good shot placement. As far as self defense against our large Brownies, it's far superior to all but the largest revolver cartridges. I quit hauling those hoglegs around years ago.

Welcome to the clan, Am, from the great nation of Texas! If you aren't haulin' hawglegs around, I presume then your carry is the 10mm, my second favorite cartridge. What frame do you carry 'em in?

I've got two 10mm pistols. A modified G20 Gen 3, and a G20L on a Timber Wolf frame. I'm planning to build a 1911 10mm in the future. I've still got a lot to learn about the1911 platform before I decide which way to go.

Beware, the 1911 is also addictive. Just finished another 10mm 1911, now doing one in 38 Super. The "gotcha's" are a lot more subtle.
