My $0.02, Remington’s handgun portfolio of products is very limited when comparing it to the Ruger’s of the world. This recent surge of new gun owners are not buying long guns, and the experienced gun owners are buying ammo...which they have decent to good ammo, but couldn’t keep up.

Someone is going to buy up this company at a great price then expand on their staple products, the 870 and 700.

I hope you are right. Regardless of the reasons for the company not being profitable, I hate to see a company/brand that is so well known disappear.

I feel sorry for the employees, and that's about it. Remington has been making garbage for over 10 years now. Their QC has been on par or worse than products made in China. I managed a gun store for a few years, and I was routinely disappointed with the quality of Remington firearms. It got so bad that I stopped stocking Remington all together.

Classic scenario, during the later days of Viet Nam and a couple of decades beyond, Remington was in tall cotton. Then sales began to slip and the first thing that the accountants want to do is cut cost at the expense of quality, thus beginning the death spiral. And yes, the employees pay the ultimate price, their jobs!

That was over 2 years ago when Remington filed for bankruptcy the first time.

Trust me, you don't want the Navajo Nation to end up with what's left of Remington. They backed off from buying Remington for the second time this past July. Prior to the Nation's announcement that they would not buy Remington, the person leading the charge to make the purchase said that they didn't believe that citizens should own "assault rifles" or large capacity magazines.

From one of the articles I was reading, they commented that they planned on using Remington to research smart weapons and that was all they planned on selling.

I got the sense the Navajo Nation wanted some assurance they would be absolved of Remingtons past if they purchased them in bankruptcy and could start over with a clean sheet paper. Then there was a court ruling handed down to the contrary, and the deal disintegrated soon after.
