Anyone running a 12.5 upper?

Hi guys. Are any of you running a 12.5" barreled upper? If so, what are you running? How his your reliability been with it? Do they prefer heavy or light bullets? Never had a short barreled AR, so just looking for some guidance. Want to pick one up before November in case things go sideways.

I’ve had 3, all worked well. Had a PSA stainless 12.5 upper. A Monster group buy 12.5 upper that I put together and my current Lilja 12.5 upper I put together. All very reliable from what I used them, the PSA and the monster barrel shot damn near identical. They preferred the federal AE 90gr TNT factory load the best for a factory loading and hand loads liked the 129gr ABLR or the 120gr ELD-M.
The Lilja seems to like about anything so far.

You should get one, you will enjoy it.

I have a 12.5 and 12 inch that I put toghter.

12.5 is a custom barrel from PF.

12 inch is a sixfivearms barrels sold here on this fourm.

Both shoot whatever I put in them and both produce sub moa groups with their handloads.

I had load 120 gold dot, 129 ablr, 123 eld-m and 123 nosler cc, 85 trex by maker.

Both have been totally reliable.

Have taken both to 600 yards on steel target and both will kill any deer are hog I want to kill inside of 250 yards.

I have a 12or 12.5” pistol barrel made by Faxon. It is one of the first 12” group by barrels sold on this forum.

I run 100gr nosler bt over 8208. I really think it would do sub moa if it had a suitable stock and optic. With the brace and leupold hog plex reticle I get moa out of it. It’s primarily my climbing stand gun.

I’ve got a Nitride PSA 12” pistol kit and just finished a group buy Green Mountain 12” 1:7.5 twist Monster logo barrel. Both have functioned 100%. Looks like the Monster barrel is going to be more accurate than the PSA but I haven’t had time to shoot Monster barrel past 50 yards.

Waiting for the rest of my parts (thanks panic buying) to complete my 12.5" BA build. Hope to get a 12" sixfive monster barrel, too... when they get back in stock.
