Hello: I have a 6ARC or 6 Grendel / 6 ppc / 6AR barrel itch I am looking to scratch in i bolt action rifle way. Think the sensible side of me says just wait til this fall when Howa and a few others are offering the 6ARC in their Mini Action.
Well back when 6.5 Grendel was coming out san outfit that went by CSS had Other Walther make up a good number of barrels chambered in one of the 6.5 Grendel variations, 6.5LBC may be correct. Well they shut down for reasons that had nothing to do with a poor service in any way the owner just had bigger and better things to do with his resources that BTW carried less risk. Any way I came across one of the last barrels on Ebay that was not used in that operation.
To my surprise the original barrel was very difficult to remove from the 7.62 x 39 rifle. And a bigger surprise to me was that When I threaded on the new 6.5 barrel the headspace came out perfect with no additional fitting. This is a 1 in 9 twist and she shoots as well or better than a factory 6.5 Grendel I picked up a few years later. Well now I am considering a similar project in 6 ARC. Any recommendations on a barrel mfg or source? Many Ill have to wait for the 6ARC forum.
Note: this one I would really like to do suppressed. Thinking on a 18" sporter contour that is flared out at the muzzle to be threaded and offer a substantial shoulder for a can to thread up to. See CZ and others are offering similar options in 7.62 x 39 & 300 blackout rifles for a few years now. Only thing is I am hoping for a 6 ARC barrel only to be swapped out on a 6.5 Grendel or 7.62 x 39 action. Any preferred barrel makers out there that may be somewhat reasonable in filling this bill perhaps doing better if I were to purchase a bit of a volume run. I am confident I am not the only one wishing to scratch this itch.
