Wolf Gold 120 grain MPT bullet brass cased ammo with the large rifle primer had PPU head stamp. Wolf is an importer and didn’t manufacture 6.5 Grendel ammunition. Prvi Partizan manufactured the Wolf Gold 6.5 Grendel with 120 grain MPT (Multi Purpose Tactical) bullet. Prvi Partizan started importing 6.5 Grendel ammunition under their own brand a few years after Wolf Gold came on the market. The PPU 120 grain bullet was advertised as HP BT (Hollow Point Boat Tail).

Wolf Military Classic 6.5 Grendel steel cased 100 grain FMJ ammunition is manufactured by Barnaul in Russia. In the last year or two Barnaul ammunition has been imported under their own name and packaging. Both Wolf and Barnaul use the same Cyrillic letters on the head stamp.

Thank you VASCAR. My Wolf 120 MPT from 2012 in multiple lots all has PPU headstamp on it. I suspect it will be very similar to the PPU loading of the 120 that is inbound now. I will shoot them side-by-side and we shall see. The price point is also similar.

I would not shoot steel case ammo in my Grendel rifles. The older brass-cased Wolf 120 MPT is quite accurate in my AA rifles. That's why I am trying a lot of the PPU 120.

The PPU 120 HPBT shoots very well in my gun, as accurate as the AG 123's.

Graf's and Sons consistently has the PPU 120 grain BTHP bullet in stock at good prices if you roll your own. It seems to shoot well in most barrels. At $.22 a piece they're a good buy if you don't need a super high BC.
