Are all Grendel extractors interchangeable?

Extractor in my PSA type II bolt broke the other day at the range. Has about 800 rounds on it. Am I OK to order any other type II extractor and expect a drop in fit? Thanks in advance.

In theory.... mostly yes. Sort of. Others will be able to say better than me, but for a time there were two standards for Grendel bolt and chamber related stuff; though it seemed to have settled on just one standard a long time ago, so unless you're getting used or really-old-stock, then yea, it probably will work.

For me, I had a PSA one snap. It was interesting to see just how paper-thin the metal is under the groove, the only thing really holding the extractor together at Grendel dimensions, is the tab thing where a bolt-lug would otherwise be. PSA ultimately warrentteed me an entire replacement BCG, but in the meantime, I replaced the extractor with a Black Rifle Arms one, that seemed cost effective. Been running that one ever since, seems to be working fine.

I did pick up a few Red X arms ones as emergency ones that I tape inside my pistol grip; But I can't say I recommend them. Some of the more experienced guys here who know a lot more than me, very actively DON"T recommend them.
I do note the RedX ones don't have the inside corners relieved, which apparently causes problems, so I touched those points up with a precision file. No idea if they actually work; I just picked them up as very low-cost emergency field repair units.

In general yes, a type 2 (0.136 bolt face depth) for a type 2. There is a thinner-depth extractor (0.125 face depth) (or type 1 as they are called), this one is a no-no except for rifles whose chambers are cut for it.
Now I say in general b/c of course mfg methods and QC can differ. I believe Mark from PF has good extractors.
Wherever you settle, also consider having one complete bolt in hand as a spare for such events. Something's gonna break.
BFT has his six5arms in the vendor area and he sells probably the dynamite standard bolt, great price, quality, go look there and pick up your spare.

One more helpful thing. Some new extractors may need to have their little tooth-corners smoothed down -- just a tad! -- to prevent gouging into the brass at extraction. You'll know if you see the effects.

My MONSTER bolts and the bolts of Alexander Arms are made by the same manufacturer. Check the details of the machining. See that little semi-circle groove just behind each lug? The same.

My bolts are nitrided. The AA bolt is phosphated.

Compare prices. I take care of my fellow Horde members, no matter how Vile and Unwashed. 'Nuff sed.

I have a couple of the Group Buy bolts so I’ll have spares and fortunately have never needed them.

Several forum members have mentioned Black Rifle Arms for 6.5 Grendel extractors. I’m just repeating form what I’ve seen posted and can not vouch for that company or extractors. Maybe someone else will chime in. I already spent my money with BFT so that pretty much sums up where I can get quality for a fair price.

Yes sir your bolts are great. I have several. But the OP was looking for just an extractor not the whole bolt. So I didn't think too include the sixfive bolts.

For just an extractor, the Black Rifle Arms and the AA extractors are the same. Can't speak to the OP's PSA bolt, however. If it was MY money, I'd risk it on the theory they can't be THAT different.

I had this issue with a new Monster bolt. After fixing the extractor it was GTG

Everyone I talk to is going all out just to keep up with existing demand, never mind the hassle of a prototype. Anybody that seems remotely interested is giving me "token" quotes: their price per part is ridiculous and their NRE (one-time engineering fees) are unreasonable.

But I'm gonna do it when they are ready to do it.

Right now am finding the same difficulty getting someone to do an improved Mk125 bolt for 6mmARC that solves the thinned extractor claw problem....

BFT, the 0.136 technique is working great, why not just stick with that for the 6-Arc?

With Pacific tool (PTG) doing a lot of the chamber reamers you can bet that Columbia River Arms (BHW) will have one of the first 6 MM ARC on the market. Hard to say if market will push the .125 bolt face depth or .136. I’m invested in .136 bolt and would only buy a 6 MM ARC barrel if it used a .136 bolt. My bet is Columbia River Arms (BHW) will use .125 bolt face. There is still a market for a quality bolt with a .125 bolt face but having both bolt face depths creates more confusion and restricts production capacity.
