I applaud the choice of 16.1? barrel. It reaches right into the heart of having an easy to handle, easy to shoot, rifle that reaches out to 300 yards and beyond for deer-class game.

Me me me. I have the Ruger American rifle in 22”. Love that it takes the AR mags, but want a shorter barrel that’s threaded.

Not offering to sell them. I am a dealer and they show Coming soon at a Whole seller . That is usually a 2-3 weeks out. Should start seeing them after the first of the year on the street.

Me me me. I have the Ruger American rifle in 22?. Love that it takes the AR mags, but want a shorter barrel that?s threaded.

I ?loved? the idea the American Predator Grendel took AR mags too, until I?m actually got one!

Maybe I ended up with a lemon but, the feeding with mine is very finicky, overly sensitive to cartidge length, bullet type and bolt manipulation. The mag well fitment is also way more sloppy than your average typical AR, allowing the mag to rock back & forth, so maybe that is what exacerbates the problem.

I ended getting a Howa and the feeding between the two is night and day. Having said that, the Howa has its own set of issues but, they were easily corrected with after market parts. Haven?t shot the Ruger since................just saying.

Edited: I’ll add that I also have the “Ranch” in 5.56 with AR mags and it works fine, feeds much better than the Grendel. So, must be a combination of the Grendel case length, shape and bullet type that is causing the issue. At least for me!

Interesting. I’ve shot mine, but don’t have an optic on yet so only for function testing and not accuracy. I’ve used the 10 Rd mags, I believe. Don’t remember which brand, as I have several, but I could look. Locked in solid with very little play and they don’t drop free when ejecting. For ammo, I used 100 gr Wolf and 123 gr Hornady Black ELD-M match. Both fed, fired and extracted perfectly. A small example, but I was happy enough. My two main 6.5 G are AR’s. I just picked up the bolt gun for if I want to hunt in an AR unfriendly state. The current Ruger one I have is fine, but the 16” would be handier for length. Could suppress for the same length as the current one sans suppressor.

Also, forgot to add, I bought mine used, unknown round count. And I added a hardener/strengthener to the forend of the stock.

I have the Grendel Predator model and have only fed and shot 129 ABLR and 120 GoldDot handloads in mine. The first handful of dummy loads with GoldDots were very rough to get fed from the mag. I have one C Products 10 round and one ASC 10 round that could be twins. Both were rough feeding to begin with, but smoothed out some after a dozen rounds were chambered. You had to run the action pretty crisp/aggressively while feeding a fresh round to not have it hang up. It has probably had 75 rounds fired through it so far and while you still can't run the bolt super slow like I am able to with the .308 American and 6.5 Creedmoor Predator, it is night and day different from when it was brand new. I have a feeling that the mag springs are too stiff for manual bolt feeding to begin with. I may try to cut a coil at a time from a spring to see if it gets even easier and find where there is still enough tension to keep the last round feeding.

Agreed, the more deliberate and vigorous you work the bolt, the better off it seems. Longer bullets seem to help also. Most of my issues were with 100 grn Partitions and Custom Comp’s and 90 grn TNT’s. Having said that, everything works fine in the Howa.

When I got my 6.5 RAP it was misfeeding with snap caps with multiple AR mag brands.
Some better than others but the last round always misfed.
Took a dremel and smoothed out the feed ramp til it was reliable. Now it even feeds steel case.
FWIW my Ruger .300bo Ranch (AR mag version) ran fine with no mods.

I think the shape of the Grendel cartridge and the Ruger feed ramp isn’t the best match. And if you want a smooth action, a Ruger AR mag bolt action won’t give it to you. I like my Rugers, they’re inexpensive, accurate & reliable. And they will get better with use.

Wa, would you give some more details on what you did on the dremel-ing, and what size stone etc? Would be helpful to other RAP owners.

I had a RARR in 300 blk that I did like. Sold it on a whim. The Ruger American line is a great low priced line.

I have a Howa mini in 6.5 Grendel. Even though I hate the mags and the release system it is in another category in terms of quality. The Howa is a much nicer rifle IMO.

Also, even though I hate the mag and mag release design mine feeds like butter in the factory HTI plastic stock.

I have 2 custom AR15 Grendel builds.But,I have been trying to justify getting a Grendel bolt rifle.I like the RAP ,because of the after market options.And I have buddies who shoot small groups with it.Looks like the Ruger ranch rifle would have those same options.looks like the RAP,only the barrel is 6inches shorter.Probably shoots pretty accurately too.

If I was to get one of these I would convert it the mini thirty mag system.i have the 7.62x39 ranch an the 5 round mag hangs down less than a inch an they lock in tight with no wobble like the ar mag guns I held.i also know the rotory mag ranch can be switched to the mini 14/30 mag as my boss at work has the 223 ranch an we swapped in my bottom metal (plastic ) on his ranch to see if we cold.i also load grendel in the mini 30 mag an they cycled without nose diving in my ranch.theres also a guy on YouTube that converted 7.62x39 ranch to the ar mag bottom plastic an it works.writing this is getting me thinking I might have to buy a grendel ranch to go with my howa now an also buy a 7.62x39 howa to go with my ranch,ar pistol an ak.i guess this doesn't ever end:o

What kind of velocity do you think is possible from this rifle? My 18” at shoots the Hornady American gunner at 2412.

I’d like this for my 500 yard matches. Or is the barrel too short for that?
