Accuracy: Finding the bar?

Lemonaid, I started a thread in target and competition section for informal fun. To get some perspective on this myself. My thought was members suggest different challenges and post their results.

I wasn't sure of the response I would get and tried to keep the first one basic so any member could try it. Myself I dont have access to a range beyond 200 yards for example.
The others aspect is a lot of members come to 6.5 grendel for extended hunting performance in an AR15 and after finding a suitable load focus on terminal ballistics and not refining accuracy.

I have been following your thread with great interest, printed out the targets and just need to get a sweet load to try out your fun challenge.
Maybe post winner of the month? I noticed there was a one bolt gun entry, might want to separate winners into two categories?

I finally got to go out and play with the Grendel over the weekend. I've had a 22" AR15 Accuracy barrel that I built up about a year ago, but was never able to make it work for me. I had hoped to get to 100 yards with it -- I should have known better. In the mean time, I learned of the NRA Tactical Prone competition (bipod and rear bag allowed 20" max barrel length and 12X max scope). After cutting the barrel down to 20" to meet the rules, I worked up a load that I thought might work. Settling on a magazine length (2.260 COAL) load of 27.5 grains of H335 behind a 123 gr. SMK in Lapua brass, I was able to make 2440 FPS & 1/2 " groups @ 100 yds.

Took the rifle and the load to Adderbury where I shot the MR-1 target off a bipod at 600 yds, (3 x 20 rounds) managed to squeek out a 192-6X, a 191-4X & a 186-4X (wind caught me).

Rifle did it's part.
