Hey now! Wookies are from Kashyyyk, and Ewoks are from Endor. Maybe the 7.62x39 CZ 527s came about from some kind of Imperial arms restriction on the Ewoks? That's some bombad stupid JarJar kinda stuff there-- putting AK fodder in a bolt gun... I'd rather have a bowcaster than that!

Hey now... I see a 7.62 bolt gun all the time . It's in the left side of my gun safe. Shoots around 1 1/4 moa. It handles like a 30 30. Works about like a 30 30. Anyone doubt the nitch a 30 30 fills? And when I shoot up my last 2k or 3k of ammo it'll be a grendel or maybe a 358 Gremlin.

OK here's the latest from CZ Custom Shop! I've been dealing with Jason Morton and after forwarding an email from Wayne Holt of Alexander Arms Jason says that CZ will now be able to chamber the CZ 527 in 6.5 Grendel. He also told me that the CZ Custom Shop uses McGowan barrels but I could specify another brand if I so desired. I have no personal experience with McGowan barrels but I've been aware of them for years, I'd like to hear from anyone who has used their barrels. I'm OK with the CZ SST as this rifle will be used for target shooting and hunting, once again I can specify another brand. Some of those who use the SST say it needs some work or wear in to "get right" I'd like to hear more about this. The CZ Custom Shop does offer an "action job" I'll need to inquire about this?

I need to ask a couple more questions and I'll be sending my deposit to my dealer! I think this will be an entertaining rifle.

I'm having a custom Varmint /Target made with 24" barrel, Kevlar laminate stock w/ aluminum bedding blocks. I've been quoted around $1400. I would expect the Carbine model to be less??? It took me a day to get a quote. I'm still ironing out the details.

I actually have a CZ 527 out at McGowen now getting an action job and a custom 300 BLK barrel installed. That rifle started life as a Varmint Kevlar in .223

As soon as that one is done, I have a 527 Carbine in 7.62x39 that will be going to McGowen for a 6.5 Grendel make-over.

But... I also have a Mossberg MVP enroute, so we'll see how that goes.

The 300 BLK is going to be cheaper than the 6.5 Grendel will be. McGowen considers 16" to be a "pistol" barrel, so everything about it (fluting, barrel blank, etc) is cheaper.

All told, it will be $105 for the contoured barrel, $75 for fluting, $35 for threading the muzzle, $205 to install/chamber the barrel, and $80 to true the receiver and lap the lugs (no extra bolt work). $500 on the nose, plus whatever it costs for return shipping.

I'm figuring the 6.5 Grendel conversion will be $150-200 more than that.

I think he is intending to use a longer barrel on the Grendel build and they will charge him more for the "rifle" barrel, whereas they considered his 16.25" 300BLK barrel a "pistol" barrel instead.

It may be that they start with long blanks that will yield two 16.25" barrels and only one barrel (with wastage) in longer lengths. Just my guess.

I have just got my m85 Zastava (aka Mini Mauser/Remington 799) back from my gunsmith.

It is barreled with a PacNor #3 cut to 21inches of length and stocked in a B&C Caberlite and scoped with a 2-7 Kahles. The chamber is a 6.5BPC cut. Whilst the m85 is not readily available in the USA they are very much still in production.

So far I've fired all of 15 rounds through the rifle whilst I do the 1 shot - clean thing. 27gn of AR2208 (Varget in the USA) gives 2330fps from a 140gn Remington. I'm about to start working up loads for the 100gn NBT using AR2206H and BM2 (H4895 and Benchmark) respectively.

Yep. That's exactly it. They consider my barrel to be a "pistol barrel" because it is only 16.25" long. So, the fluting is only $75 instead of $155 for a rifle barrel, and the contoured barrel is only $105 instead of the normal $185.

I'm planning on 20-22" for my Grendel.

I see; it's one of those economy of mass production things. Sooo...If a bunch of us ( maybe agroup buy) were to all settle on a standared barrel length and contour could we get some discount?

I see that CUSTEM RELOADING TOOLS expects to have their improved CZ 527 bolt handle for sale February 27. I think I'll get one. Anyone haveany expierence with CRTs products?

I don't have any experience with them directly, but I'm on the list for two 527 bolt handles. They have a pretty stellar reputation over at Saubier.
