There was lot's of evidence a while back. Some people had a Non Grendel chambered barrel from manufacturer X. They had issues with thier chambers running some factory ammo's. The differences where in the chamber not the name. Some manufacturers that didn't want to stick with the Alexander Arms demensions for the Grendel chamber decided to "Improve upon it" and make thier own "match grade barrel" with a tighter chamber. The tighter demensions had problems chambering some of the factory ammo out there.

Almost all of the older members here were on the previous website (before this one). There was plenty of evidence and issues. But, the whole subject became a nasty discussion that no one here wants to hash over again. The reason people mention there are some possible issues with Non Grendel barrels is because there was/are. They are only passing it along to help inform the newer grendel owners. If you don't want to accept or believe the information, by all means do what you want.

No one here wants to argue about Grendel or .264 LBC ...... it's old news.

I hope Liberty goes back to the Grendel specs. They make a really good barrel. My is a Grendel. I don't know if they are using the Grendel spec and just changed the name to .264 lbc. Or, if they decided to go with the tighter chamber. That's why I won't buy anything that is stamped Grendel on it. Too many "what ifs" and unknowns. If it says Grendel on it, you know it has the right chamber. Unfortunately, too many companies out there these days buying a .264 and slapping it in an upper and calling it a Grendel. Then, when the AA bolt won't work in it and the chamber is too tight ..... well you get the idea.

Re: Nikon M223 mount.... I recently put one on a bull grendel for a friend. As far as tell, it's a nice setup. Seemed ideally setup for a fixed stock AR. He got the mount free with his scope, which made it a pretty decent scope & mount for the money. Certainly not high end glass, but for a modest cost setup I'd give one a try.

I am baffled as to why barrels are being chambered for everything but Grendel now that it is SAAMI. Factory ammo is made to this spec. and reloading dies are made to this spec. Seems to me your brass for reloading would get shortened life span due to the constant amount of resizeing, this subject has been debated here before and the Grendel has the easiest profile on the brass. Spliting hairs for sure but we all are a little anal otherwise we wouldn't be here. All I can think of is it must be too hard to chamber a Grendel or the reamers are too expensive, maybe both. I would Like to see things Standardized instead of "will fit". I used to build engines for a living and puttin two metal things together that only fit "close enough" don't get for me.
Sorry I sound like an ass but I am, ask my wife.

Crushed: I know you're new here so you don't have the background and with the old forum being hacked and going down with the loss of almost all the info on it, it's hard to get a full picture of what happened in the past.

Suffice it for me to say that there is a many year history through all this going back at least 6 years and probably longer.
There was bad blood between different parties that has continued through today and I won't go into it as it's not really my place to speak.
Maybe someone who was intimately involved will jump in and tell the story although every time someone has tried to in the past, someone else would jump in and say they were wrong and it was the other way around.
There is really only two people who were there and at this point they probably think it isn't worth rehashing old things.

As far as barrels go AA is making Grendel barrels or having them made for them with the "Official" Grendel chamber.
AA has a Shilen upgrade for their barrels so Shilen is still making Grendel barrels.
Whoever( Shaw?) makes AA's rack grade barrels must be making the Grendel chambered barrels.
So there are companies that are making the Grendel chambered barrels if you look in the right places that are listed here on the forum.

At least several of the companies that started doing other chambers did so because they didn't want to be held to the quality control requirements that the AA license required.

Hopefully with the trademark being released( remember this just happened not too long ago) and with SAAMI going through( also not that long ago in terms of a business cycle) more companies will see the sense of going back to the SAAMI specs. in the chambers they offer.

Of course none of this happens overnight and the things people were doing for this years Shot Show( once again it just took place) probably were finallized before the trademark & SAAMI happened.

Glad to have you here on the forum and keep reading.

Thanks for the history lesson Lee , it is much appreciated. I was ( am) a little frustrated in trying to find a decient barrel. I don't deserve to shoot the top of the line stuff but I want sonething better than plain vanella that has the ability to make one hole past 100. as bad as I want a Grendel I am considering waiting a while (next year) and see what shakes out with it. But I know how fast life can change so ya gotta grab on while you can. The process of finding the "right" barrel is making me little crazy (more than usual) maybe I'll get my gunsmith bud to get for me and not tell me where it came from.LMAO. Thanks again , I'm chillin & readin.
