28.2 XBR8208@ 2.250 is giving me 2435 FPS. I suspected chrony issues also and tested the xbr with a fresh 9v and re-read my chrony manual and discovered that there was a particular height above the sensors that they recommended and shot it there. I am going to do the same with cfe, but will most likely stay with xbr. I never plan on going over 31.2 with cfe again especially since xbr is giving me what I’m looking for and it’s more temp stable. I just want to rerun the 31.2 cfe for personal information
Lrrpf52, I believe if you were to go to a gun shop during the previous presidents gun scare and buy the cheapest china crap just so you would have something to put in your rifle you could have possibly found a screw together buffer (I did). I have made some questionable purchases in the past and am still trying to weed all of the substandard pieces out. I wish my file size wasn’t too large to upload.
I also do not know my gas port size. I bought a 16” barrel with M4 contour from satern. They are on a fantastic sale right now $155 for the barrel and bolt.

The thing with buffers is that there are oodles of 2.9oz carbine buffers all over the place, more plentiful than any other type of buffer.
I have at least 4 of them just sitting around in my lower parts organizers.

Here are your preferred loads simulated in QL
(The SAAMI peak for Grendel is 52,000lbs)
They are both hot loads at roughly the same peak pressure. Not dangerously lot and if you have decent parts on your gun it should be OK for a couple of thousand rounds before something breaks.

Thank you very much Klem. It just so happens that I have shot both those loads and have to say that you are 100% correct. They both grouped very well for me, the cfe maybe just a touch better. Right now I’m still trying to decide which load to go with. I love that I can load the cfe straight into the case because the powder meters perfectly but I am a little unsure about the temp stability. The 8208 hangs up one of the sticks in the rotor on my uniflow once in a while so I don’t trust the drops will be as uniform, but it’s more temp stable.
