Im new to AR's and the 6.5G, I have an Alexander Arms 16" upper, that supposedly has been fired before, the lower I built, but the issue seems to be with the upper or bolt or something, I need some help, I cant figure it out.

I put a case into the chamber it looks like it goes in far enough, with no ammo the bolt goes all the way forward, but when I try to load a round with the bolt it wont go far enough forward, if it does, i cant eject the round, and have to tap on the T handle with a hammer to back it out.. Im frustrated, I hope someone has some tips for me.
Factory 123G Hornady ammo, that it is scratching the heck out of also... :confused:
The scratches on the bullet are normal. It happens as you extract a loaded round, the ejector spring is forcing the bullet into the barrel extension lugs which are relatively sharp.
The scratches on the case are something else and should not be there.
Since this is factory ammunition I would expect it to be within tolerance and should not be causing a difficult bolt close.
My advice is to contact AA immediately for corrective action.

I didnt buy it brand new from AA, (they were months out of stock), I bought it from a dealer that claims they assembled it and shot it a few times to make sure it worked... Playing with it here, I take a round and put it in by hand and push it in as far as I can with my fingers and put a cleaning rod in the muzzle and put a mark on it when it touches the head of the bullet, then load one with the bolt, and it stops in the same spot. The ammo just isnt going into the barrel far enough I think.. How the heck do I fix that?

Deezil, do you have anything besides the factory Hornady ammo?

Don't want to insult your rig, but do you have he right bolt with the right size extractor for 6.5G? If you have an standard 5.56 bolt to compare to it you'd see the difference. I sometimes get my bolts mixed up when my different ARs.
I'd take it back to the dealer who said he built it and have him fix it.

Looks like a stripped upper and "other" parts.
The edge of the chamber is not radiused cleanly which gives the semi circular marks. The headspace is tight judging from the description and the marks on the shoulder.
Call the shop and we will see what we can sort out.
noobshooter, I got it complete, I have no other AR parts, this is the first one I have ever touched.

There were several Grendel owners on different forums that could not cycle factory Hornady ammo. Just FYI.
really? what other forums? I have not seen anyone with hornady issues yet.

I don't have any issue with 123 Hornady factory ammo for my 24" AA barrel & bolt (B-GRE24PACK), & AA stripped upper (M-GRENUPPER) build.

no, mine puts the case onto the bolt face fine, the ammo simply doesnt go into the chamber far enough... with the bolt or not.
deezil are you planning to sent it to AA to figure out the problem?
I want to try some different ammo first, and contact the people that sold it to me to see how they possibly fired the thing when I cant even chamber a round. How would I tell if this is really an AA barrel? If its not, Im sending it back to who I got it from!!
Appear to be an incorrect/out of spec chamber. I read your other post that shows the projectile and case marks. I have 5 different Grendel ARs that none of them make that type of markings: AA and JP.
