It's pretty simple. People like her (which includes many teachers and students) want a non-violent solution.

They don't want teachers to shoot students, even students who are on a rampage shooting other students.

I know. It appears she would have been happier if her dad had beaten the living crap out of her mother, or possibly even killed her, rather than having her dad die of "gun violence". Because that would have been easier to explain.

To be honest I only care about Charlize Theron's ability to act. I read her father was shot in Benoni South Africa where she grew up - It's a different place with a different culture. Now, after taking elocution lessons to sound more like an American she is paid handsomely to pretend for a living, and good luck to her. Her opinion on violence is familial and generic but her opinion on firearms is less informed and somewhat hypocritical (given she portrays the use of them on a regular basis). In Roman times actors had the same status as slaves and reprobates; banned from the Colosseum. How times have changed. I wonder what her opinion is on the militarisation of the South China Sea, or how to make a sandwich...

(mind you, if she invited me round for coffee I'd be drooling into the cup while hanging off every word she said).

She should donate the proceeds of all those films to the Parkland victims families. Then I might feel she's committed to her position. I'm also curious if her security entourage is unarmed.

Ethan Hawke is the one that annoys me the most. If he's so against guns, he should pledge to never make another movie with one.

Most rich Democrat lawmakers (but I repeat my self) are sending their kids to private schools that have armed guards, plus they have armed security themselves. If they were really serious they would get rid of all of those guns and proclaim to the world "Our Kids go to xyz school which is a gun-free zone"!!!!!.
I'm not holding my breath for them to say that.

Plus dismiss their armed guards.
Plus Diane Feinstein needs to give up her own personal gun that she carries.
