Larue mount

I am going to be purchasing a Viper PST 2.5-10 x 44 in the near future for my Grendel. Most of my plinkong and hunting is 200 yards and under. I do have access to a range where they have buffalo gun shoots so I will have an opportunity to shoot much farther on occasion.

So I am looking for suggestions on which Larue mount would be best.

They have a decent 600 yard range in Cadillac according to a friend. Closer than the 500 meter on Ithaca.

If you are going to go big on your scope mount be sure to check out the Nightforce Uni-Mount in 30mm with built in 20moa to get you out there.

Either the LT-158 with 10 MOA built in:

or the LT 107, though you need to be sure it will work with your rifle, which has 30 MOA built in.

I thought they used to make an LT with 20 MOA built in, but I can't find it today.

Just as an example, I am about 3 MOA short of enough elevation at 1000 yards with a standard mount, a 28" barrel, and a Nightforce 5.5-22x56 scope.

I do not anticipate shooting past 600. They recommended the LT104.
Does anyone have any experience with the Vortex ADR mount?

I have the LT-104 with Viper PST; LT-158 with NF 3.5-15x56. I like them both. I highly recommend the Larue mounts (no experience with Vortex ADRs).

I run ONLY Larue's on my AR's, and have 3 of the LT-104's. They just work, period.

That said, I would buy the one with 10 MOA built in if I was buying another.

That's a pretty strong "ONLY" so which dept do you work in? LOL, just kidding. So even in my instance you would recommend the LT158?

I have the LT158 under a Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50. That PST model has 15 mils of total elevation adjustment. That's not enough to shoot to 1,000 yards, so the 10 MOA down angle helps with that and keeps the reticle closer to the center of the glass at longer ranges where the optics are a little better.

I wish! I would, because having 10 MOA of extra adjust will never hurt, and might be helpful if you use the scope on something in the future where you need more elevation.

After having one Larue, and then trying cheaper options, (I got the Larue on a rifle I bought, and thought that it was too expensive to buy another), I came to the conclusion that I'm too poor to buy stuff more than once!

Sor I just buy Larue now and I'm done with it. I do use Nightforce rings on bolt guns, though, because they allow you to mount levels and cosine indicators.

I wish I had that under my Nightforce! I need to pick one up and dump the accessory 20" rail I have. I have an extra LT 104, but need a trade! LOL!!!

The 158 also has the cantilever to move the scope forward, which is very useful with a lot of scopes on the AR. It allows you to keep the mount on the upper and not bridge to the forearm and still position it where you need it.
