First Annual "Eugene Stoner memorial Grendel shoot" in North Texas???

If it ain't rainin', you ain't trainin'! You should have seen the weather up at BoomerShoot for the 2 days of the precision rifle class. Sideways-blowing snow, and we were shooting 375yds-700yds. Couldn't see the 700yd targets through the fog and snow most of the time. A little Swedish girl who had never shot past 100yds before was making consistent hits on the 700yd targets with a 6.5x55 Swede on the second day of the class.

Have some hot chocolate in a large thermos or beverage dispenser and drive on. Maybe some hot soup too. That will help your inner fire burn through any rain.

Now this is is some motivating stuff! I'll show up both days if thats alright. it's only a little over an hour away and i would much rather shoot at your place than at my range.

You Texans need to come North in April and shoot at Boomershoot. You get instruction from LR1955 and LRRPF52, both of whom have been there and done that in all the nasty places.

Along with them, you get Monte Milanuk, who shoots on the US National F class team, and has been part of the last several National Champion FTR teams and the World Champion team.

You generally get to shoot in sunshine, rain, snow, and wind, sometimes in the same 2 hour session!

This is the Pacific Northwest, if we don't shoot in rain or wind, or both,we don't ever get to shoot!

My "driveway" is about a quarter mile of dirt road and if it rains a lot, it can be rough. I am sorry. HOWEVER, in 10 years i have never gotten stuck so you should be fine. just dont slow down on the few low spots. See you all SUNDAY. I may be able to rig up something to make it better or we can shoot off the front porch if need be ( the wife will have to wear earplugs in the house - ha ha !!! ) but we will manage.

I'll heading your way tomorrow at around 0830 unless the rain is beyond drivable. What was it like in Lipan today? here in Denton it rained non-stop for 11 hours. still going right now

Dang, I never thought of that. Good idea! I usually look for rocks, but never thought of puddles.

When I was younger we used to shoot trees all the time on my buddies dad's farm. When his dad cut those trees we got cussed something fierce when the sparks flew on the chain saw blade multiple times. Steel core AK ammo back when the chinese spam cans were still cheap. Oops...

Ok, well we did have a get together with Glockzilla and another friend ( Travis ) who is not yet a Grendelite but who will no doubt soon be, especially after having shot one today.

I have some pictures just as i promised;

First of all the day was MISERABLE: its was cold and wet.... but we did the best we could to enjoy it.

My friend Travis had never fired a Grendel: he fell in love with mine. He especially liked my AR GOLD trigger....

After a while we decided to shoot at sticks in the lake; Glockzilla brought down this contraption....
