I am thinking of going to 6x45. If I keep going I will end up back at 223.

Whats the difference between a 6x45 and a .243-250? years ago I saw a guy shooting .243-250 over a chronograph at 3600fps. Fastest thing I'd seen at the time. I never considered using the round until I saw you 6x45 idea. Might give 6mm Creedmore a run for its money.

6x45 is a .223 wildcat, necked up to .243. You're limited on what bullets you can shoot in the 6x45 due to ogive length and case length, which is why the 6mm AR (6mm Grendel) makes a lot of sense with a shorter case, more case capacity, and the ability to use long target or hunting bullets with high BCs.

We are doing a 92gr MKZ (Maximum Kill Zone) expanding hunting bullet and a 92gr TMT (Tactical Match Target) in 6mm right now.
The expanding hunting bullet is coming in at .465 G1 and the TMT at .510 G1.
I have finished bullets and am in the final accuracy testing phase.

Buddy of mine gave me some 107gr SMKs for future projects, and I was pleased to see that they come pointed from the factory.

Little off topic, but I just picked up a Ruger American Predator in 6mm Creedmoor. Was very surprised to see it has a 1:7.7 twist. Should be able to stabilize the 110gr SMK and the 108 ELD-M no problem.

Off topic a bit also- Article in new shoot times rag--- 6MM creedmore. Top 5 loads mimic My Grr loads to a T. This is what Joesmith and I, & few others were trying to achieve 3 yrs ago.

Beauty is the better diameter of the 6.5 @ same wt. ,,and same speeds.
yet, mine were from a 16" gun--- the Creed was a 22" rifle.

It out performs the 6mm Creed , as same as apples. Yes a .257 would be close----- But, we are the 6.5 Grendel gang here...

I have the same rifle and it shoots the 108 ELD's very good 1/2 so far....I have some of the 105 Berger Hybrids and they do not shoot as well.....I am still working on loads.....

ArmaLite and DPMS have had .243 Winchester uppers for well over a decade now.

The problem is you now have a beast of a rifle with a receiver set that feels like two bricks fit together, unless you go small frame.

You can push a 105gr to 3000fps though from a 24" barrel.

In the 6mm AR, you can get 2750 with a 105gr from a 26" barrel.

In the 6mm AR Turbo, you can get 2850-2925fps with 108gr Bergers from a longer barrel.

The lighter AR15 is more manageable, parts market supports it better, compatibility is there, brass life is excellent.

A 6mm Dasher will get you from 2950-3000fps with 105s and 107s, but uses a .473" head diameter from the 6mm Bench Rest cartridge.

Biggest issue with .243 Win. is factory rifles chambered with lesser twist pipes, but precision shooters usually are getting custom actions done, so no big deal.

I still like the 6x47 Lapua and 6 Dasher with Lapua BR brass.

I've watched a lot of 6 Dasher through the spotting scope, very flat cartridge, mild recoil. Wish they would SAAMI that one and make brass.

Using Hodgdon CFE 223, muzzle velocity with the Berger 108-grain Boat Tail projectile should be about 2730 fps from a 20-inch barrel.
