I've had a problem with my Forster 7mm-08 dies not setting the shoulder back enough, even when bottomed out

This seems to be a relatively common problem with 7mm08, we have seen it in my son's. Most of the time the bolt guns have enough camming action to chamber them, but it will ultimately deform the case.

This normally happens with unfired brass. Factory ammo once fired does not seem to have this issue. Even RP unfired brass in a RP rifle. So the Grendel is not unique in this.

i am having ejecting issues, rounds chamber just fine at 2.26 and shoot extreemly well .32moa but every other round sticks in the chamber . not showing any pressure signs either .....just confused........so i feel your pain. soon someone will be able to hear me screaming in College Station!!

When you say "sticks in chamber" do you mean that the bolt doesn't move back after firing, or you can't chamber a round and then eject it unfired?

Or is the bolt flying back without extracting the empty brass from the chamber?

I had the same problems about 2 years ago when starting with the Grendal, in an Alexander Arms Overwatch upper, with the Shilen barrel.

It turned out the problem was two things, bullet seating depth and lack of shoulder set back. Bullet depth is easily taken care f with seating stem adjustment.

Additional shoulder setback was accomplished via trial and error method, of removing small amounts of metal from top surface of case holder, using fairly fine wet/dry sandpaper on a flat surface. I constantly checked sized cases with one of the Sheridan case gages, removing enough metal from case holder until cases would freely and consistantly enter the gage.

I figured it better to play with an inexpensive case holder vs an expensive die. I probably only removed a few thousands of an inch, but did no actual measurements, just made cases fit the gage and have had no problems since.

That sounds like an extractor issue. Check your extractor spring strength. I would replace it with a Wolff extra power extractor spring and see what happens.

Make sure your extractor isn't broken also
