14.5" "Wolf" Barrel

So I'm putting together a 22" precision rifle at the moment and just waiting on my bhw barrel, but I've left myself to a lot of thinking about both, how awesome this round is, and how I'd love to crank through rounds at a low cost.

Result:
I want to build an upper to primarily shoot wolf ammo. Naturally I don't need a premium barrel for that.
Also I want it as short as possible because it'll still shoot 600 yards easy, but I don't want to sbr it. Not quite ready for that hassel/cost. So I am thinking a 14.5" would be great and I'll pin and weld it.

So my questions:
who sells cheap 14.5" Grendel barrels?
I hear you want 1:7.5 in barrels under 16", is that true? and is a carbine or midlength gas system going to be preferred?

The ammunition is designed to function in a 7 1/2" twist barrel of 16" length but will work well down to 10.5" barrels.

On accuracy the bullet jacket is bimetal construction. It is intended to work in conventional type rifling. Canted transition rifling typified by 5R types do not engrave aggressively enough and despite generally being match barrels will not shoot this ammunition as well.

as far as i know there ain't any 'cheap" 6.5 g or 264 LBC barrels out there-- esp in 14.5"--

for a while red-ex was selling 6.5" m4 barrels in 14.5" with carbine gas-- those have been sold out for the longest time and will probably never be back.

now i am building a 20" truck gun in 6.5 G and i got a 4140 blank from sarco for $40 -- added a barrel extension , drilled the gas port , trimmed the nipple back on the muzzle and i need to crown the muzzle and it will be ready for a test firing-- i want to turn it down to A2 from the gas port back-- but i got to figure out a budget way to do it for a LW rifle.

so you could have a 20" H-bar for $60 ish if you do your own work ---everything lse i know of is $170-$200+

you might pick up something closer to what your wanting by shopping th ads-- people on here are constantly swapping barrels out--

yea you want 7.5" TR in a 14.5" if at all possible -- as it gives you more wiggle room on bullet length with the short tube. i'm not sure what is best for a 16" --

most of the 20" are 1-9"

J&T Distributing which is a sister company to Double Star has a sale on some 16" carbine gas barrels with 1:9 twist in M-4 profile. They sell chrome moley and chrome lined. I believe these are Shaw barrels but my 16" 1:9 twist shoots reall good out to 800 yards. I had MOA or less groups at 600 yards with factory A-Max with a non free floated barrel. You could always send the barrel sent to ADCO and get it shortened.

The J & T barrels use SAAMI spec chambers and they use to get their bolts from AA. These are very inexpensive barrels on sale. Less than $150 and worth checking out. To me they are an ideal barrel to use for shooting Wolf ammo. I'm contemplating ordering another one just to have on hand as a spare.
