Hi the hoard,
So today was an open day on my clubs range, anyone can attend even if they don't have an FAC. So quite a few new shooters, including my stalking partners dad, Mike. A man I have met many times also a fellow stalker. A very conservative man when it comes to firearms, a traditional wood and blued steel guy. I have offered in the past to let him have a go with my neutered AR, which was politely declined. He has shown an interest in my Grendel CZ. Mainly, due to my constant blathering about this odd little cartridge.
So today he has brought his .308 to chrono loads he is developing for stalking. He is a good constant shot and had produced many inch groups with his .308. While he was doing this I shot this check zero.

It includes the cold bore shot and the following four in the mag and measures .442 of an inch. So I am very happy with my star alined moment.
After which Mike had finished his shooting, so I offered him a go on the CZ. Well he repeated my group two fold as he had a slightly larger sized one having shot ten rounds. After five and the mag change I asked what he thought I got a grin and the sentence,
"They have just made one hole"
It did not take much to persuade him to shoot another five.
They just enlarged the hole slightly. Mike star alinement moment.
Then came the question,
"is this deer legal?"
It is said I.
Then followed a pause and a thoughtful expression. We were the interrupted by another shooter asking about the rifle and cartridge.
OK fast forward to bringing the tgt in, I let Mike look at his tgt, again that look. I left all the used tgts on our table, when it can time to pack up i noticed that the pile was one short, I noticed that Mike had put it with his. I did not have the heart to ask for it to take a pic.
Could I have made a convert? maybe.
