Which barrel?

I've narrowed it down to either of these. Do I go with the Alexander Arms 16" or BHW 16" in, .264LBC, barrel for hunting build.

I can't speak to these two barrels performance never used one, but have heard lots of good things about both of them. My 6.5 has a Saturn barrel and it's lights out accurate for hunting. You can find them at brownells but shortest they sell is a 18in barrel.

Just my .02. I'd go with AA for a several reasons. It's in stock, and I hate waiting. It's got a tighter twist, so possibly better accuracy potential over a range of bullet weights. It's less expensive, so I can buy other cool parts I need. It's fluted, and everyone likes fluted barrels. It's the original chamber, made by the original. But that's just my .02.

If this was a AA barrel when they first started making the Grendel then I'd Have a hard time picking. Now I'd go with black hole weaponry. Since they make a great barrel for the money.

So if picking today I'd go with BHW 1/8 type II bolt

Right now, the choice also involves deciding between 264 LBC and the SAAMI spec'd compound throat of the Grendel. My understanding is that BHW is presently only cutting the 264 LBC.

The slowest twist that stabilises a particular range of bullets is what many target rifle shooters look for.

Fluting can save weight but not much and comes at a cost. If not done properly it can also upset the metallurgy of the barrel.

BH makes some fine barrels-- but i think i would go AA this time--

and pick up one of their 24"s for a long tom 6.5--lol

The weight of the AA 16" fluted barrel is very light, but it is still a stiff barrel. It's one of the best options right now for a lightweight hunter. I just built one last month with one, and am building another for my neighbor.

The extractor is stronger on .136" face depth barrels. BHW also offers Grendel chambered barrels.

I "dry fitted" mine to weigh it prior to complete assembly. I'm at 6.8 lbs without optics. I believe they will add 21 oz.
