spare bolt??

Does anyone have the info on the testing that Under Ground did for the bolts? Mark at PF did a lot of testing on the Maxim bolts to get where we are. Just making them is part of the equation. Proprer shot peen, hardening and milling is required, this isn't just a simple process and where did this "Under Ground" come from? Who have they been making product for and how long?

Might just be another fishing real company making parts because the fishing business is slow, it isn't just that they can make something. We have seen this before in the firearms industry.

I don't believe that Satern would procure bolts from Underground Tactical if the bolts were not a quality product. Satern would not damage their reputation in the industry by going with a fly by night company. What sells it for me is that Satern is going with underground tactical as their sole supplier of bolts. I live here in the Austin area and once the bolts are available I will test and report back on my impression of the quality of the bolts in comparison to my AA Hard Use bolt in my Grendel. I have had issues with my Hard use bolt and had to file down the extractor and ejector to get rid of
FFE issues.

Undergrounds uppers and lowers look to be a milspec. I see the "Keyhole' on the lower, Cerro, and the square on the upper. Here is some awesome engraving my guy does too.[ATTACH=CONFIG]4346[/ATTACH]

...the Grendel as this is my current emphisis to get this cartridge out there in the hands of Americans who like to Hunt! Here in Va and many other states the Modern Sporting Rifle is growing and the name "AR-15" is being replaced with MSR. That is my goal...

Attempting to change the AR-15 designation while simultaneously promoting the Grendel seems somewhat contradictive considering that the cartridge is named after a monster that killed and ate people. Just saying...

Great help guys. Maybe I should re-phrase my question!

If, I want a spare bolt, what is necessary, after I get it in my grubby little fingers, do I have to do to make sure it is right for my existing rifle, carrier, etc.? Is it a drop-in, go shoot situation or is there something I have to do to match it to what I already have? I feel I am too ignorant to even ask sensible questions, but maybe you get the idea this time.

I'm surprised with all these posts that no one is answering your question - It is quite simple - just disassembale the old BCG and re-assemble with the new bolt. There are how-too's on YouTube as well as the factory manuals. Good luck!

What, exactly, would a person have to do to get a spare bolt ready to drop in your existing Grendel rifle?

I apologize , we all kind of high jacked your post. If your spare bolt is the same as the one that came with your rifle "barrel" you should be good to go. All of my spare Alexander Grendel bolts fit my Alexander barrels without any head space problems. If you are using different manufacturer bolts I would check the head space with a Grendel head space gauge.

if you have a new Liberty barrel you just got, the Les Baer Custom Bolt's will work fine. I have used them on numerous Grendel barrels and 12.7x42 Liberty barrels that shoot Beowulf ammo, all without any feeding or interacting issues. LBC has had them in stock regularly so you might give them a call tomorrow and be shooting in a weeks time. When your AA bolt shows up you will at least have a spare.

Apparently Maxim Firearms has bolts and carriers available? Not sure why some of us have been waiting for GB bolts/carriers from PF when they are available from Maxim???? Am I missing something here?
